We improve financial access to healthcare through the establishment of grassroots community-centric health insurance schemes.
Health care for the people by the people
In Cameroon, healthcare insurance is still at its very miniature stage. According to the MOPH, in 2014, only 1% and 2% of the population were covered by mutual health insurance and private health insurance respectively. This small coverage is limited to the cities. People in rural settings who actually lack financial access to healthcare either do not have knowledge on the importance of a health insurance or they cannot afford to buy an insurance plan.
We are helping families, meeting groups, quarters and communities to set up their own grassroots health insurance schemes. In this “healthcare for the people by the people” method, The funds are managed by two selected members from the community and each household benefits financial aid from the funds each time a member of the household is sick.
